Change of Use Application

A Change of Use application is required when a property or building is proposed to be used for a different purpose than what it was originally approved for under local planning controls. For example, converting a retail shop into a café, turning a warehouse into offices, or using a dwelling as a short-term rental may all require council approval for a change of use.

Areas We Service

Change of Use

As town planners, we assess whether the new use is permissible under zoning regulations, complies with development standards, and is suitable for the surrounding area. This process often involves preparing documentation such as planning reports, traffic and parking assessments, accessibility compliance, and in some cases, environmental or heritage considerations.

At PlanBE Planning Consultancy, we guide you through the change of use process from start to finish. Our role is to ensure your application is compliant, clearly justified, and presented in a way that maximises the likelihood of approval—helping you transition your property to its new purpose smoothly and efficiently.
