How a Town Planner Assists with Appeals

The Appeal Process

  1. Initial Consultation – Your town planner will meet with you to discuss the council’s decision, explain the possible avenues for appeal, and outline realistic expectations.

  2. Assessment & Strategy – They will review the refusal notice or conditions, assess planning policies, and develop a strategy to strengthen your application.

  3. Lodgement of Review or Appeal – Depending on the situation, your planner may assist in lodging a request for a review by council or prepare an appeal for the Land and Environment Court (where applicable).

  4. Negotiation with Council – A town planner will liaise directly with council to negotiate amendments or solutions that may resolve concerns without the need for lengthy proceedings.
